STOCKTON, Calif. – Following four games on the road, the Pacific baseball team returns home to take on Utah Valley in a midweek contest at noon on Tuesday at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (2-13) are coming off their first true road series of the season at UC San Diego where they lost three games. Utah Valley (4-10) enters the Tuesday toss-up after dropping two of three games to Sacramento State.
The Wolverines were picked to finish second in the Western Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll with one first-place vote. Utah Valley's Daniel Dickinson was named Co-Preseason Player of the Year with California Baptist third baseman Mitchel Simon.
This marks the first time that Dickinson has won the award selected by the WAC Coaches. In his first year in Orem, he hit .376 overall in 54 games played. He added nine homers, 42 RBIs, 82 hits, and 19 doubles that broke several UVU freshman records. This year, Dickinson paces the Wolverines with 21 hits in 60 at-bats, including a team-leading six home runs, 19 runs and 12 RBIs through 14 games.
Calyn Halvorson leads Utah Valley with a .400 batting average (20-for-50) with a pair of home runs and 10 RBIs.
On the mound, Ethan Fowlks carries the Wolverines' staff with a 2-1 record and 4.91 earned run average in 18.1 innings of work.
The Tigers are led offensively by sophomore
Jack Metcho, who is hitting a team-best .340 (18-for-53) and has reached base safely in all 15 games. Batting in the leadoff spot typically, senior
Chase Graves has demonstrated his patience at the plate, taking a team-high 19 walks, which ranks first in the West Coast Conference and tied for 11th in the country.
Sophomore
Kaden Petersen and freshman
Gabe Camacho are tied for the team lead with a pair of home runs. Camacho hit a two-run home run in the most recent game against the Tritons.
Junior
Ethan Shaver was effective for the Tigers in his last start, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing just one earned run. In relief, junior
Jarryd Wood holds a 2.38 ERA in 11.1 innings.
The game will be streamed be live on ESPN+ with a first pitch set for noon.
