Six Tigers Record Strong Performances at Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Pacific track & field opened the 2024 season at the Liberty Open on Saturday at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
 
Paving the way for the Tigers was senior Sophie Pazzo. The Claremore, Okla. native was the top finisher for Pacific in two of the long distance events. Pazzo earned fourth place in the 5000m with a time of 19:04.78 and finished 16th at 10:59.82 in the 3000m.
 
Senior Anahi Avila Perez placed 12th in the 5000m with a time of 20:39.59.
 
Four Tigers recorded personal bests. Junior Ella Leroy earned seven in the shot put with a personal record throw of 11.54m. Sophomore Serena Yee set a personal best of 10.12m to earn 24th place in the triple jump.
 
Junior Sophia Livingston set two PRs in the 3000m (22nd, 11:35.50) and 1 mile (36th, 5:36.92). Sophomore Emily Wernli also set a personal best time in the 1 mile with 5:38.80 while crossing the finish line in 39th place, three spots behind Livingston.
 
Up next, Pacific returns to the West Coast to compete at the Sunshine Indoor Open at 11 a.m. on Feb. 9-10 at Westmont College.
