STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team prepares for its final regular season tournament appearance as the Tigers travel to Phoenix, Ariz. for the Purple Classic from Friday, March 1 through Sunday, March 3.
The event features Toledo, Montana, New Mexico and tournament host Grand Canyon. The Tigers play five games in three days, starting with the Lobos on Friday at 8 a.m. PT.
Pacific is led behind sophomore
Olivia Silvestre, who's .368 batting average, .474 slugging percentage, 14 hits and eight runs rank first on the team. Her batting average ranks fifth, her runs tied-sixth and her hits seventh in the WCC so far this season.
Leading from the circle is senior
Avery Croxall. Her 1.52 ERA and 28 struck out batters ranks first in the WCC. In 23.0 innings pitched, she's garnered a .221 OBA, which ranks third in the conference this season.
Junior
Delaney Scully paces the team with 89 putouts, which ranks her second in the conference. Scully ties seniors
Reagan Hamilton and
Rian Dirmeyer with 6 RBI this season. Dirmeyer's three home runs lead all Tigers and ranks tied-third in the WCC, while junior
Kyla Eck ranks second in the WCC in assists with 34.
It's the third meeting between Pacific and New Mexico since 2011. The two programs have only ever met on a neutral field with the Lobos earning the latest win 13-5. The Tigers claimed their own 15-4 tilt in 2011.
Following their contest, the Tigers take on Toledo for their first time in their modern history. Pacific is 1-5 in its neutral site games this season, while the Rockets are 4-2 on a neutral field.
On Saturday, the Tigers start their morning with a game against Montana, one of two they play this weekend. Pacific is 3-1 over the Grizzlies dating back to 2015. They most recently played in 2018, with the Tigers edging out Montana 7-6. Pacific concludes the Purple Classic revisiting Montana on Sunday morning.
The Tigers battle host Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon for their fifth meeting since 2015. The Antelope tied the series in 2022 after handing the Tigers a 9-3 defeat in Phoenix. Pacific last won in 2018 with a 7-6 decision over the Antelope in Phoenix.
