Tigers Gear Up for LMU, UC San Diego

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team continues its road warrior status, traveling to take on LMU for its first conference contest this season on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. before heading to UC San Diego on Thursday, Feb. 29 for a 2:30 p.m. match.

The Tigers (2-2) come off a massive road win after edging out UC Davis 4-3 in a come from behind victory in Davis. The win snapped a nearly decade long tilt to the Aggies and granted the Tigers their first road win this season.

A similar mindset will be brought this week as the Lions have held the winning edge since Pacific rejoined the West Coast Conference in 2013. The Tigers will go for their win against the Lions in that time span.

Pacific has met the Tritons twice in the past two years. The Tigers last defeated UC San Diego in a 7-0 sweep in La Jolla, Calif. The year prior, Pacific came away with the 4-2 win on the road.

Junior Liza Mladentseva and freshman Milena Maiorova lead all doubles teams with a perfect 3-0 record from the three. The pair captured a win against Davis over the weekend for their second win in two weeks.

Freshman Indiya McLeod garnered her first collegiate singles regular season appearance against the Aggies playing at the six. Her 6-2, 6-2 decision over Claire Galerkin tipped the Tigers over the edge, propelling them towards their first win over UC Davis since 2015.

Maiorova and junior Megan Carmichael each improved to 3-1 singles records this season with wins this past weekend at the five and three respectively. Maiorova moved to a 2-0 record playing from the five after defeating UC Davis' Carly Schwartzberg 6-3, 6-2.

Following the two road matches, the Tigers prepare for their first home match of the year as they host San Francisco on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
