Softball Debuts at Home in Libby Matson Tournament

STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team debuts at home for the first time this season, hosting its annual Libby Matson Tournament at Bill Simoni Field from Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25.

The event features Creighton, Stony Brook and Nevada, who will play alongside host Pacific. Games start at 10 a.m. each day, with four contests on both Friday and Saturday. The Tigers play the final game of the tournament against Nevada on Sunday at 12:15 p.m.

All contests featuring Pacific will be available on ESPN+ all weekend, as part of the West Coast Conference's broadcast expansion deal set last summer.

Sophomore Olivia Silvestre leads all Tigers with a .417 batting average and .542 slugging percentage through nine games. Her batting average currently ranks fifth in the conference. Her six runs and 10 hits pace the team, while senior Reagan Hamilton leads with 6 RBI.

Senior Avery Croxall leads both Pacific and the WCC with a 1.95 ERA through 14.1 innings pitched. Two Pacific pitchers rank in the top ten in the league in opponent batting average, with Croxall at fourth with a .250 OBA and graduate student Vanessa Strong seventh with a .273 OBA.

Junior Delaney Scully ranks first on the team with 51 putouts in nine appearances, which ranks her second in the WCC. Hamilton ranks fourth with 29.

The Tigers welcome Stony Brook for their first ever meeting, having never played with the east coast based school in their combined history. They play Stony Brook twice, along with two games against Creighton between Friday and Saturday.

Pacific is 1-1 against the Bluejays over the past decade. They have yet to play each other on their respective home fields, with the Tigers last defeating the Bluejays in a neutral site game 7-6 in 2012. Creighton holds the most recent victory with a 2-0 decision over Pacific in 2015.

The Tigers hold a more colorful history with the Wolfpack. Nevada has held the 7-3 edge in the past ten meetings, last defeating the Tigers at home in nine innings 8-7. Pacific last beat Nevada at home 3-2 in ten innings in 2021.

The Tigers play their third tournament in as many weekends, having spent the first two weeks out on the road. They play their first five of their 29 total home contests, starting with Stony Brook on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
