STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific softball team spends the next two days at the CSUN Matador Diamond Classic in Northridge, taking on Utah Tech and host CSUN. The Tigers (1-4) open the tournament with a game against Utah Tech on Friday, Feb. 16 at 9:00 a.m.
Due to weather conditions in the area, the tournament weekend was moved up a day and Pacific's final game on Sunday was foregone. The Tigers take on both teams twice between Friday and Saturday.
Pacific debuted last weekend in Fullerton, opening with a 7-6 victory over UIC in its first game of the season.
The Tigers were led by senior
Reagan Hamilton, with 5 RBI over the course of five games, including a career high 4 RBI against UIC. She and senior
Rian Dirmeyer recorded two HRs, recording one a piece against UIC and Southern Utah respectively.
Sophomore
Olivia Silvestre earned a team leading .429 batting average in her debut with Pacific. She scored a team leading four runs over the course of the tournament, including two runs against the Flames on opening day.
Senior
Avery Croxall leads all pitchers with a 1.11 ERA through three appearances and 6.1 innings pitched. She allowed only six hits and three runs from the circle.
Junior
Delaney Scully cataloged 24 putouts in five games to pace all Tigers. Dirmeyer and junior
Kyla Eck combined for 14 assists.
Pacific and Utah Tech have yet to meet since the Trailblazers transitioned to Division 1 in 2022. Utah Tech is 1-1 on a neutral field to start the year.
Conversely, the Tigers have an extensive history with CSUN, dating back to their shared time together in the Big West Conference. The Matadors have held the edge since Pacific returned to the WCC in 2013, but the Tigers earned the 4-0 victory a year ago in a neutral site game in Riverside, Calif.
The Tigers play four games Friday and Saturday, starting with Pacific's first game against Utah Tech on Friday, Feb. 16 at 9:00 a.m. at Matador Diamond. Following the first game, the Tigers play CSUN at 11:00 a.m.
