SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Pacific swimming program earned a pair of victories over host UC Santa Cruz, but could not complete the sweep over San Jose State Saturday afternoon at UCSC Recreation.
Led by senior
Ellie Macphail's performance on the women's side and a total team effort by the men's team, the Tigers battled with the Spartans and Banana Slugs, earning a 169-115 victory over the men's UC Santa Cruz squad and a 188-88 victory over the women's UC Santa Cruz squad. The women fell 165-95 to San Jose State.
"It was a solid day of racing for the men and the women," head coach
Katelyne Herrington said. "We had a mixed bag of performances and have a few things to clean up for our upcoming meet against Bakersfield. Overall, the team is in a good spot!"
Macphail took first place in the women's 500 yard freestyle and 1000 yard freestyle. Macphail has placed among the top two in those competitions during both meets this season.

Jordyn Gonzales going 1-2-3 in the 1000 yard freestyle.
On the men's side, freshman
Dante Dentino and freshman
Matthew Dillon placed the top two respectively in the 1000 yard freestyle.
Freshman
Javier Lopez Guillen highlighted an overall great performance by the men, securing the best time in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:41.36 and in the 100 yard butterfly with a 49.40.
The Tigers won the men's 400 yard freestyle relay and 200 yard medley relay while earning a runner-up finish in the women's 400 yard freestyle relay and 200 yard freestyle relay.
Pacific has a quick turnaround, looking ahead to returning home to begin next month against CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Nov. 2 at noon at Eberhardt Aquatics Center.
