STOCKTON, Calif. – Behind junior
Travis Robbie's individual championship, the Pacific men's golf team earned a runner-up finish at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Wednesday at Stockton Golf & Country Club.
Robbie led all three days of the tournament and wrapped up his performance with a 13-under-par to be crowned the first Tiger individual champion since 2018 when Casey Scott won at Grand Canyon.
"It feels great," Robbie said. "I played pretty solid all three days. I got a bit lucky here and there. It was very fun to compete and be a champion today!"
The Tigers (-28/824) finished in second place, four strokes behind first-place winner San Diego. Pacific tallied four golfers in the top 25 on the individual leaderboard, all finishing under-par.
"We played great all week," head coach
John Cook said. "We battled the conditions today. The wind was a bit tough this morning, but Travis played solid all week. We are going to take this momentum going forward and get ready for the Saint Mary's tournament."
Robbie carded an overall-best five-under-par in the final round, securing a first-place finish individually. The last individual to win a Pacific-hosted tournament came in 2010 when TJ Bordeaux claimed the top spot.
Sophomore
Carlos Astiazaran finished in a tie for the top five individually, shooting an eight-under-par across the three days. Junior
Timothy Jung steadied the course Wednesday to remain in a tie for 16th place.
Junior
Deitrek Gill wrapped up his week with a three-under-par for a tie for 22nd place. Redshirt junior
Daniel Henely rounded out Pacific's lineup with a seven-over-par in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
The Tigers had four individuals compete in the three days with freshman
Brasen Briones securing the best finish of them in a tie for 47th place.
Pacific looks ahead to next week, traveling to Seaside, California for the Leadership & Golf Collegiate Championship, hosted by Saint Mary's on Monday through Wednesday.
