Three Pacific Players Score in Double Figures in Loss to San Francisco

STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior Anaya James, senior Kadie Deaton and redshirt senior Rosie Schweizer finished with double-digit points, but Pacific women's basketball was downed by San Francisco 81-68 on Saturday at Alex G. Spanos Center.
 
James led with 18 points while notching six rebounds and six assists. Deaton finished with 17 points and had four assists, two steals and one block. Schweizer recorded a season-high 10 points and career-high four assists. All three of them drained two three-pointers apiece. Sophomore Sydney Ward matched her career-high 10 rebounds.
 
 The game was tied at 23-all at the end of the first quarter. James notched a second chance layup that ignited a 14-3 run and brought the Tigers' up by 11 at the 4:50 mark, 37-26. The Dons responded with eight unanswered points to trim the score to three, 37-34. Deaton and sophomore Lauren Glazier contributed buckets in the final minute to keep Pacific up 41-34 going into halftime.
 
James registered a three and jump shot in the paint for the 46-34 advantage at the start of the third quarter. San Francisco notched a free throw that sparked a 21-8 run, resulting in a 55-54 edge in favor of the visiting team with 1:54 left. A three from James and a layup by graduate student Madeline Ennis put Pacific back up 59-56 with 53 seconds left in the third. But the Dons erased the Tigers' lead with two free-throws and a three-pointer, 61-59.
 
The fourth quarter went to San Francisco as it outscored Pacific 20-9.
 
The Tigers shot 29-of-66 (.439) compared to the Dons who were 25-of-54 (.463).
 
Pacific drained a season-high 9-of-25 (.360) from behind the arc and had a 38-30 advantage in the paint.
 
San Francisco was 23-of-32 from the charity stripe while scoring 18 points off 16 Tiger turnovers and 14 on the fast break.
 
Up next, Pacific travels to San Diego for a road contest at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
 
NOTES
-The game marked the 51st meeting between the Tigers and Dons. Despite the loss, Pacific holds a 15-10 advantage when playing San Francisco at the Spanos Center.
 
-In 16 of their 17 games this season, the Tigers have had three or more players score in double figures.
 
-Pacific is second behind Gonzaga in scoring in the West Coast Conference with 73.1 points per game.
-With Ward's 10 rebounds, the Tigers have now had back-to-back games where a player finished in double-digits in rebounding. James collected 10 rebounds during Pacific's victory against Loyola Marymount on Thursday.
 
-With her season-high 10 points, Schweizer now has 12 career double figure scoring performances.
 
-The Tigers were without senior Liz Smith for the third consecutive game. The Dallas native is averaging 13.9 points, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
