Softball Falls to #13/14 Oregon

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team dropped a 13-2 non-conference decision to #13/14 Oregon Thursday afternoon at Bill Simoni Field.

The Tigers (9-25) fell behind early as the Ducks (31-11) notched two runs in the top of the first inning. The Ducks continued to score runs through three consecutive frames and built a comfortable 13-0 lead in the fifth inning.

The Tigers got on the board in a wild final frame, scoring two runs to eliminate the shutout in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Six players reached base for the Tigers in the inning, with Desiree Smith and Marissa Fabian earning walks. Jordan Hayes, Reagan Hamilton, Kyla Eck, and Carly Lucchetti reached on fielder's choices.

Rory Schuck, pinch-running for Smith, plated the first run for the Tigers, and Hayes later scored on an Eck fielder's choice.

Avery Croxall, entering the game in relief of Smith and Scarlett Lloyd, pitched the final two innings and recorded three strikeouts.

The Ducks' Raegan Breedlove and Allison Benning kept the Tigers hitless throughout the game, combining for a no-hitter.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday, April 29, when it hosts Saint Mary's in a West Coast Conference doubleheader at Bill Simoni Field.
