STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team (1-3) scored a season-high nine runs en route to its first win over Milwaukee (2-2). The Tigers got out to an early lead and held on late in the 9-6 victory.
Freshman
Rylan Evans continued his torrid start to the season, collecting four hits, scoring two runs and driving in one. Junior
Chaz Myers and graduate student
Ben Nemivant added two hits, and Nemivant collected two RBIs in the win. Freshman
Jack Metcho drove in two RBIs.
Senior
Grant Stevens picked up his first win of the season, pitching 6.0 innings with six strikeouts to just two walks and allowing two earned runs. Sophomore
Owen McWilliam recorded a one-out save, striking out the final batter.
Pacific opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, as Metcho brought Evans in on a fielders choice. Milwaukee tied the game in the top of the third on an RBI before Pacific added two more runs on a single from graduate student
Jeremy Lea and a throwing error from the Panthers.
Pacific poured it on in the fourth, as a Nemivant double and an Evans single brought in three more runs and freshman
Tony Otis capped off the scoring with an RBI single to bring home Lea.
The Tigers did not score again until the eighth, and the Panthers took advantage of the lull, scoring four runs and making it a 7-5 game heading into the eighth. An RBI groundout from Metcho and a wild pitch put the Tigers back up by four heading into the ninth. The Panthers scored once in the ninth, but McWilliam entered the game with the tying run at the plate and struck out the final batter to win the game for Pacific.
