STOCKTON, Calif. -- Women's swimming hosts its final home meet of the season as men's tennis hosts its first of the campaign. Women's track and women's water polo also launch their spring seasons. Women's basketball is home for two games for the second week while the men have just a Saturday contest at Santa Clara. In total, six Tiger teams are in action Saturday.

Thursday, Jan. 26 – Women's Basketball hosts San Diego, Alex G. Spanos Center, 6 p.m. – The Tigers (7-13, 2-7) begin the second rotation through the conference by hosting the Toreros (10-10, 4-5). San Diego recorded an 84-74 win in December in the first meeting and is tied for fourth in the WCC after the first nine games. The Tigers hosted the league's top two teams last weekend and outscored both teams in the second half, but dropped both games after falling behind in the second quarter. The Tigers challenged #16 Gonzaga in the Education Day game, dropping an 81-78 decision in front of 2,000 screaming fans.

Friday, Jan. 27 – Women's Water Polo vs. #2 USC and Fresno Pacific at the Lancer Joust – The women's water polo team will open the 2023 season with four games in two days, starting with a contest against the #2-ranked Trojans. The two teams have not met since 2018. In the second contest of the day, the Tigers will face Fresno Pacific. In last year's meeting, Pacific recorded a 15-5 win, its 15
th consecutive victory over the Sunbirds.

Saturday, Jan. 28 – Women's Water Polo vs. #5 UC Irvine and Biola at the Lancer Joust – The Tigers face their second 2022 NCAA Tournament team of the season in the 8 a.m. contest. UC Irvine (1-1), who won the Big West last year, opened the season losing to #4 Cal and defeating #8 Fresno State. In the second contest of the day, Pacific faces Biola for the second year. Last year, the Tigers recorded a 15-5 win over the Eagles. Biola (1-4) already played the last two weekends and is 0-4 against Division I opponents.

Saturday, Jan. 28 – Women's Swimming hosts UC Davis, Chris Kjeldsen Pool at the Douglass M. Eberhardt Aquatics Center, 11 a.m. – Pacific (4-6) will wrap up the dual meet portion of its season with a women's-only contest against UC Davis (5-1). It will be the final home meet for the lone Tiger senior on the women's team,
Jessica Clark. Last week, the women hosted UC Santa Barbara and dropped a 183-76 decision to the Gauchos despite a double win by freshman
Diana Chan. The men's squad, which is idle this week, also lost to the Gauchos.

Saturday, Jan. 28 – Men's Tennis hosts UC San Diego, Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center, 1 p.m. – The 2023 dual meet portion of the Pacific tennis season gets underway on Saturday as the Tigers welcome the Tritons (3-2) to campus. The two teams did not meet last year. The contest matches two teams on the rise. UC San Diego has already matched its Division I win total from last year while Pacific was picked sixth in the WCC preseason poll after finishing eighth a year ago.

Saturday, Jan. 28 – Women's Basketball hosts BYU, Alex G. Spanos Center, 2 p.m. – The Tigers host the third-place Cougars (11-9, 6-3) on Youth Day. Kids in eighth grade or younger will be admitted free in a sports jersey. The Tigers dropped a 69-51 decision at BYU in the WCC opener back in December. Tiger redshirt junior
Rosie Schweizer is playing her best basketball of the season, coming off the bench to average 12.3 points in the last three games, hitting 80 percent (16 of 20) of her shots from the field.

Saturday, Jan. 28 – Men's Basketball at Santa Clara, 2 p.m. – The Tigers and Broncos meet for the second time in two weeks in a critical WCC contest. Santa Clara (16-6, 4-3) is tied for third in the WCC; Pacific (10-12, 3-4), tied for sixth. In the first meeting, the Broncos won a high-scoring affair, 92-81. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1280 with Zack Bayrouty handling the play-by-play. Pacific looks to get back in the win column after falling to #6 Gonzaga, 99-90, at home Saturday in front of 4,376 fans. Balanced scoring remains a strength for the Tigers with six players averaging 8.0 points or more and another (
Judson Martindale) averaging 13.0 in the last four games.
