Pacific Moves to #4 in CWPA Poll

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's water polo team (10-1) has moved up in the CWPA DI national rankings.

In the preseason poll and for the first two weeks of the season, Pacific held the #5 spot on the Top 20 list. As of Wednesday's rankings, Pacific has moved to the #4 spot, with 87 points.

#3 Stanford is only one point ahead of Pacific with 88.

"The rankings reflect an outside perspective on where we are at this moment in the season. We have our own internal assessment about who we are and what we need to improve upon," said Head Coach James Graham. "It's nice to climb up a bit, but if we keep improving and iterating, this current ranking will only be a moment. Our current obstacle is to adapt to the idea that we will now get everyone's best shot. It doesn't matter who we play from here; we will need competitive stamina to progress throughout the rest of the season."

The Tigers move ahead of USC in the rankings, who they beat last Friday in their home opener at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

Pacific competes in the MPSF Tournament hosted by Stanford this weekend. The Tigers open the tournament with a game against UC San Diego on Friday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m.
