STOCKTON, Calif. – The West Coast Conference recently announced its All-Academic selections and 46 Pacific student-athletes earned recognition, including 12 that were WCC All-Academic First-Team selections.
Women's soccer had 11 athletes honored, the most of any Pacific team. Ryanne Molenaar, Camryn Scully and Jenae Packard were first-team honorees.
"We are thrilled at the academic achievements of our women's soccer players," said Co-Head Women's Soccer Coaches
Danesha Adams and
J.J. Wozniak. "For 11 of them to be named to the WCC All-Academic team and three honored with first-team selection speaks to the commitment and dedication our entire team places on academics and how important it is for them to get after it in the classroom."
Men's golf also had an impressive showing with eight student-athletes honored, including two first-team selections, Petr Janik and Haakon Mathiesen.
"Assistant Coach
Andy Moren and I are extremely proud of the effort the golf team has made in the classroom, especially considering the travel schedule required in our sport," said Head Men's Golf Coach
John Cook. "It takes a tremendous amount of discipline and organization to have this success. The team takes their academics very seriously and it shows by our team GPA. We couldn't be prouder of them!"
Women's basketball and softball each had five honorees. Volleyball and men's soccer had four each. Women's cross country had three. Baseball, men's tennis and women's tennis each had two.
The Pacific athletics department had an overall average GPA of 3.21 in the 2021-22 academic year. The department posted a 3.17 average in the fall semester and topped that with a 3.26 average in the spring semester.
These impressive showings in the classroom come after multiple semesters of remote learning.
"With it being the first full year back on campus with in-person, on-campus academics and athletics, while still navigating a world-wide pandemic, our players are to be applauded for their efforts to continue to raise the bar for our individual and team academic successes," said Wozniak and Adams.
