NORMAN, Okla.: The Tigers dropped game one in their three-game series as Oklahoma dropped ten hits in a 7-3 win.
The Tigers were led by Jeremy Lea, who had two hits and three RBI, including a home run that got the Tigers on the board. James Arakawa came back into the lineup and racked up two hits and one walk. Thomas Gavello drew two walks for the Tigers.
Marv Guarin started the game for the Tigers and pitched 3.1 innings with six strikeouts and allowed only three hits. Jackson Vaughan and Nick Swanson both had two strikeouts in just over an inning pitched. The Tigers staff had 12 strikeouts versus just five walks.
The two teams have not played each other recently, and as such, the offense took some time to gain traction. After three and a half scoreless innings, the Sooners got on the board with a two-run fourth inning. The Sooners added one more run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly.
In the sixth, the Tigers got on the board with a Lea solo home run to left field, his second home run of the season. The Sooners added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to start to pull away.
After two scoreless innings, the Tigers trailed by six, heading into the ninth. With the bases loaded, the Tigers looked to Lea once again as he singled up the middle to bring in two more runs. However, the Tigers could not continue the rally as the Sooners shut them down to secure the win.
The Tigers and Lamar will play a neutral site game tomorrow. The first pitch will be at noon PST.
