SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Tigers took a quick trip north to Sacramento State and returned to Stockton with a 5-2 win.
Chaz Myers had two RBI and a double; Brandon Motheral had two hits, including a home run. Ben Nemivant had two hits and a double while driving in a run. Thomas Gavello had one hit, a double.
The Tigers went with a bullpen game. Nick Swanson started the game and pitched 2.0 innings with two strikeouts. Tyler Stout pitched 2.1 innings without allowing a run with one strikeout to get his second win of the season. Hunter Schilperoort pitched 1.2 innings and secured his fourth save of the season.
Motheral started the Tigers game with a bang, hitting a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give Pacific the early lead. The Tigers added three more runs in the top of the second. Nemivant doubled down the right-field line to bring home Colby Canales. Myers followed it up with a double to left field to bring Jeremy Lea and Ben Nemivant.
Sacramento State added two runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two solo home runs to bring the score to 4-2. The Tigers added an insurance run in the eighth inning as Canales reached on a fielder's choice, bringing in Motheral for the Tiger's fifth run.
This weekend, the Tigers are back home, hosting Santa Clara in a three-game series.
