STOCKTON, Calif. – Although the Tigers broke 70 points Thursday night, it was not enough to top San Francisco as the Tigers fell 77-70.

The Tigers have hit the 70-point mark in four of their past five games and 12 times overall this year. The Tigers are fourth in WCC in points per game at 68.2.
The Tigers got out to an early lead, as Holmberg scored four of the Tiger's first six points. The Dons were ready for a shootout, storming back to take a seven-point lead with just under four minutes remaining. The Tigers battled back and trailed by only two at the end of the quarter. The second quarter was close for the first few minutes before the Dons went on a 14-0 run which was part of them heading into the locker room with an 11-point lead.
The Dons kept the Tigers at bay in the third, maintaining a multiple possession lead for most of the quarter; with under three minutes left in the quarter, the Tigers began to swing the momentum, scoring seven straight points, which was capped off by a Cruz three. The Tigers came out swinging in the fourth, going on an 8-2 run to start the quarter. Ashby tied the game with just under six minutes remaining, and the two teams started to trade leads, with five lead changes in the final half of the quarter. Ultimately, with the Tigers down by two with under a minute remaining, they could not get a shot to fall, and the Dons escaped with the win.
The Tigers are back home on Saturday, Feb 12, as they will host Portland in their Pink game, a fundraiser to help Hospice of San Joaquin.
