STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific community is invited to a Watch Party for the Opening Round contest between Pacific and UC Davis in the NCAA Water Polo National Championship at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. The fun gathering will take place on the second floor of the DeRosa University Center in The Lair, which was recently refurbished with state-of-the-art technology, including a 16,000-Lumen Panasonic laser projector with a 16-foot screen and six 70" 4K ultra high-definition video displays.
There is no charge for admission to the Watch Party. The Lair will be serving its pub-fare grub during the game. The event is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
Pacific meets UC Davis in the opening round with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinal contest against host California. Pacific enters the event after a 12-6 win over Long Beach State to earn the Golden Coast Conference title and the automatic berth.
This is the fifth NCAA post-season appearance for the Pacific water polo program and the third in its last five seasons. Known as "Water Polo U," Pacific is the only team other than traditional powers California, Stanford, USC or UCLA to advance to the national championship game. In fact, the Tigers have done it twice, in 2013 and 2019.
