STOCKTON, Calif. - On Sunday in a West Coast Conference game, the University of the Pacific Softball team lost the series finale to Loyola Marymount, 6-0.

GAME SUMMARY

LMU got on the board in the first inning when Andrea Gonzalez hit an RBI double to drive in Taylor Keinath for a 1-0 lead. 

Keinath hit her first home run of the season in the top of the third inning to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. 

The lead tripled for the Lions in the top of the seventh. Doubles by Molly Grumbo and Megan Dedrick drove in three runs for LMU, and Gonzalez scored as a result of a two-out error. 

Although the Tigers had five runners reach scoring position, the combined pitching of Alessandra Samperio and Marina Vitalich for the Lions held Pacific scoreless for a 6-0 win to close out the series. 

NOTABLE STATS

• Madison Kahwaty is on a six game hit streak after going 1-for-4 on Sunday.
• With two hits each for Pacific were Jessica Mabrey and Valeria Torres-Colon. 
• Currently on a four-game hit streak is Carly Lucchetti. 
• In the circle, Myka Sutherlin had five strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched.

"Thought we played a a good game until the last inning got away from us. Give LMU credit for piecing things together to get some runs. Unfortunately we didn't do the same."

UP NEXT

On May 1-2, the Tigers host their final home series of the 2021 season. On May 1, Pacific hosts a WCC doubleheader against Saint Mary's with game one set for noon, followed by game two at 2 p.m. The following day, the series finale and Senior Day take place at Bill Simoni Field with a first pitch set for noon.
