SAN DIEGO - The University of the Pacific Softball team lost the final game of a West Coast Conference series to San Diego, 4-1 on Sunday at USD Softball Complex. Pacific is now 11-11-1 and 1-2 in WCC play.
GAME SUMMARY
To lead the game off,
Valeria Torres-Colon singled, then stole two bases. The Tigers took a 1-0 in the first inning lead when Torres-Colon scored on a sacrifice fly hit by
Madison Kahwaty.
USD though scored a trio of runs in the bottom of the first. An RBI single from AJ Kaiser, a bases loaded walk to Alexia Torculas and a sacrifice fly by Halle Kyler produced runs for the Toreros, who led 3-1 through the first inning.
A double by Clarese Santiago in the bottom of the third to drive in Torculas added to the lead for USD.
Pacific had two more hits, both in the top of the fifth, but San Diego finished with a 4-1 win to take two of three games in the series.
NOTABLE STATS
- In addition to a leadoff hit from Torres-Colon, Madeline Domingo and Jessica Mabrey each had a hit for Pacific on Sunday.
- Domingo now has a team best .302 batting average.
UP NEXT
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, April 17 with a WCC doubleheader at Santa Clara for the first two games of a three-game series. Game one is set for noon, followed by game two at approximately 2:30 p.m. Pacific defeated the Broncos on March 28, 3-1 in a non-conference matchup.
