Pacific Completes Athlete Performance Staff

STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of the Pacific has announced a promotion and the hiring of a pair of individuals to the Athlete Performance Staff. Jon Wall has been elevated to the Director of Athlete Performance and Bennett Reed and Joe Sarcos have been hired as Assistant Directors of Athlete Performance.
 
Jon Wall
Wall joined the Pacific athletic performance staff in the September of 2018 as a Volunteer Assistant Strength Coach for the Tigers, working with men's water polo, men's soccer and field hockey. Since his arrival, he has also worked with other Tiger programs including baseball, beach volleyball and men's and women's water polo while also assisting with men's basketball.  
 
As part of his role at Pacific, he creates and implements strength and conditioning programs, formulates nutritional guidelines and recommendations and collaborates with head coaches to create periodized practice plans for the purpose of injury prevention. 

Prior to Pacific, he served as a Strength & Conditioning Intern with the Stockton Heat for two years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Cal Baptist in 2015 and a Master of Science from Concordia University-Chicago in 2018. 

Wall is both AED and CPR certified as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. 
 
Bennett Reed

The University of the Pacific has announced the hiring of Bennett Reed as the new Assistant Director of Athlete Performance. 

"I am incredibly excited to welcome Bennett to Stockton and our Pacific community," said Jon Wall, Director of Athlete Performance at Pacific. "His knowledge and experience working with a wide variety of sports at the Division I level will be a huge asset to the Athlete Performance staff and our student athletes. I can't wait to get started with Bennett on board!" 
 
"I want to thank Jon and the rest of the athletic department for giving me the opportunity to work at the University of the Pacific," said Reed. I am looking forward to working with the Tiger student athletes and being a member of the community."

Reed joins the Tiger staff after serving as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan and as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. He also gained valuable experience with internships at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to go along with being a volunteer assistant at Manhattan College in Bronx, New York.
 
At Ferris State, he worked primarily with the Bulldogs' men's and women's basketball and women's soccer programs. He also assisted in the design and implementation for the football program. He was worked closely with the sports medicine staff to ensure student-athlete safety, monitor status and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries. 
 
At Wagner, he was involved with numerous programs including men's and women's lacrosse, women's soccer, field hockey, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's golf. He also assisted with other Seahawks' programs. 
 
While working as an intern at Coastal Carolina, he assisted with the implementation of training programs for the Chanticleers' men's and women's basketball program and the design of the training program for women's basketball. He continued his work with the women's basketball program, designing and leading all aspects for incoming student-athletes.
 
Reed is First Aid, AED and CPR certified as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
 
Joe Sarcos

The University of the Pacific has announced the hiring of Joe Sarcos as an Assistant Director of Athlete Performance. 

"I could not be more excited to welcome a fellow Stockton native to the Pacific community and the Athlete Performance staff," said Jon Wall, Director of Athlete Performance. "Joe is a highly regarded strength coach with a wealth of knowledge and has had much success at the Division I level, making him a great asset to our staff. I am incredibly eager to get started with him on board." 

Sarcos comes to Pacific after spending nearly five years at San Jose State University. While at SJSU, he worked with a variety of athletic programs. He was involved in the development and administration of yearly training protocols for baseball, softball, swimming and diving, volleyball and water polo. In addition, he assisted with the efforts for the men's and women's basketball and soccer programs as well as football. Also at SJSU, he was responsible for monitoring the finances of the department, including the ordering of equipment and supplements and the oversight of full-time, part-time and graduate assistant coaches. Sarcos was also involved in the administering of rehabilitation and return to play protocols in collaboration with the sports medicine team. Prior to joining the staff at SJSU, he was a volunteer assistant at Arkansas State where he was involved with the football and women's soccer programs and a student intern at Sacramento State University. 
 
Sarcos has his bachelor's degree from Sacramento State and is certified as a Strength and Conditoning Specialist by the NSCA. He is currently completing his master's degree in exercise physiology at San Jose State University.
