Tigers Welcome Grad Transfer Jordan Bell

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific men's basketball program added another transfer to their roster on Friday afternoon when former Loyola Marymount forward Jordan Bell committed to the Tigers.

"Jordan is a graduate transfer who brings experience to our roster right away," said head coach Damon Stoudamire. "He knows the league very well and was a part of a 22-win team at LMU just last year. I think he can bring both scoring and rebounding to the table and will be another versatile playmaker who will have a significant impact on our program."

Originally from Inglewood, California, Bell committed to Northwestern State after a stellar career at Inglewood High School. Despite playing just one season for the Demons, Bell appeared in 26 games in 2016-17, averaging 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 11.6 minutes of action. Overall, his best performance was an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double against Southeastern Louisiana on Jan. 28, 2017.

After his freshman year, Bell would enter the transfer portal, landing at Compton College after his original commitment, Cal State Northridge, did not have room on their roster. He then sat out that season, 2017-2018, in order to keep three years of eligibility at Northridge. Unfortunately, the Matadors fired head coach Reggie Theus following the completion of that season, so Bell decided to explore his options once again.

Deciding on Loyola Marymount, Bell played in 33 games with the Lions in 2018-19, good for 10th most all-time in a single season in school history. Overall, the 6'8" forward averaged 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game to begin his career in Los Angeles.

This past season, Bell saw an increased role in coach Mike Dunlap's system, registering new career-highs with averages of 7.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while playing 22.3 minutes per game. Proving to be a problem in the post, Bell scored in double digits nine times in 2019-20, including a 14-point, 13-rebound performance at Pepperdine on Jan. 16.

Looking to contribute from the jump, Bell joins a strong recruiting class with fellow transfers Jervay Green (Nebraska), Marial Mading (Chipola College) and Nigel Shadd (Kansas State).
