STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team (5-3, 0-0 WCC) concluded the annual Libby Matson Tournament in style on Sunday, walking off Nevada in the bottom of the seventh for the 3-2 win under the lights at Bill Simoni Field.Â
Â
How it Happened
- Madison Kahwaty wore one in the bottom of the first to put Pacific's leadoff runner on base, then Carly Lucchetti walked to put two Tigers on base with just one out. Caitlyn Sung grounded out to move the runners over, but the Wolf Pack escaped the jam unscathed.
- Bethany Hammer relieved Strong from the circle in the fourth inning, finishing the contest with three strikeouts in four innings of relief.Â
- Kahwaty was hit again in the fifth, eventually coming home on a single from Carly Lucchetti to put Pacific on the board and cut the deficit to 2-1.
- With Pacific down to their final two outs in the seventh, Ralene Estrada sent a solo shot over the center field fence to give the Tigers life. Pacific put two more runners on base to set up Sunday's hero Caitlyn Sung, who slapped a hard-hit ball to third base and reached on a Nevada error to score Kahwaty for the win.

What Coach Kolze Said
"(Bethany) Hammer really came in, did a tremendous job in relief and I think it really changed the momentum for us. I really was extremely happy along with the rest of the staff on how the hitters started to adjust and started hitting line drives and ground balls. Obviously, Ralene (Estrada)'s homerun was so clutch for us…it was just a lot of fight and a lot of heart out of the team. They did a tremendous job coming back after such a heartbreaking Friday night to win two games and play such solid softball."Â
