Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – Kriekie van Wyk helped the Pacific Tigers field hockey team to its first win of the season in a 3-0 shutout over Temple University on Sunday afternoon.
In Case You Missed It:
- The Tigers offense came out roaring hot taking a quick 1-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Van Wyk received a cross pass from Rylee Comeau and hit the back center of the net.
- At 11 minutes in, van Wyk increased the Pacific lead to 2-0 with a shot off the penalty corner, receiving the pass from Gaby de Kock and Nthabi Maine.
- Just over halfway through the first, van Wyk found Comeau inside the circle and Comeau took the shot to push the Pacific lead up to 3-0.
- In the second half, the defense stayed strong, as Temple really pushed hard to try and score.
- As time expired, Temple had one more opportunity on a penalty corner to end the shut out but came up short.
By the Numbers:
- In the first half, Pacific outshot the Owls 13-4, but Temple held strong in the second half, as both teams each had five shots. Pacific finished with 18 shots to Temple's nine.
- In net, both goalies had six saves.
- Pacific tallied eight saves while Temple had seven.
- The Orange and Black improve to 1-1 on the season.

"I thought today was a natural progression from Friday's second half. We played exceptionally well in the first half and could have had a few more. All credit to Temple who are incredibly well coached and organized, who came out on fire in the second half, and took the game to us and did everything to score. Look forward to watching our team develop against Providence and Miami this week."
