LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pacific men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up competition at the MPSF Championships Saturday evening.
The men's program snagged a fourth place finish with 599.5 points. The women concluded the four day event with a fifth place finish (475 pts.), just half a point behind fourth place BYU.
The highlight on the day was the men's 400 Free Relay as Mason Miller, Harrison Stewart, Dylan Toy and Miles MacKenzie combined for a team victory after clocking a time of 2:54.04. The women's 400 Free relay team, which included Kenna Ramey, Becca Aguilar, Taylor Hosmer, and Lillie Meredith, were fourth with a time of 3:22.40.
Distance swimmer Brigid McNally opened Saturday's individual finals for the Tigers, earning fifth in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:53.38.
Lauren Atkins was Pacific's top finisher in the 200 Back, finishing first in the consolation final, ninth overall (2:01.06). For the men Niles Biolley was fifth (1:47.59), while Angel Alcala also scored in the Championship final with an eighth place finish (1:56.76).
Kenna Ramey secured her third top-two finish on the weekend after a 49.71 second-place mark in the women's 100 Free. Becca Aguilar was eighth (51.11). Three Tigers — Mason Miller, Miles MacKenzie, and Dylan Toy each recorded a B-cut in the men's 100 Free final. Miller earned second (43.78), MacKenzie finished third (43.82) and Toy was sixth (44.21).
In the 200 Breast, Angela Gagliardo was second with a time of 2:14.36, while true freshman Elina Rosario had a ninth place finish (2:18.11). Yahav Shahaf was eighth in the same event with a 2:19.82 mark.
The final event of the day was the 200 Fly. Taylor Hosmer (2:03.58) and Alcala (1:47.19) highlighted the women's and men's races, respectively, each with a fourth place finish.
Lucas Hastie was the men's lone diver on the weekend. He collected 136.55 points in three-meter diving, 133.5 points in one-meter diving, and 123.95 points in platform diving.
Pacific now waits to learn of its NCAA post-season fate until March 7, when the NCAA will announce its 2018 field via press release.
