Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – A hat trick by senior Kriekie van Wyk helped carry the University of the Pacific field hockey team to a 4-0 shut out of the UC Davis Aggies on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers improve to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the America East conference, while the Aggies fall to 6-11 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
In Case You Missed It:
- The Tigers came out on fire for Senior Day taking a quick 1-0 lead over the Aggies. Karlijn made a quick pass from the outside, that deflected off the keeper's hands into Rylee Comeau for the goal in the left side of the net.
- Just over a minute later, Taylor Dempsey dumped a pass into van Wyk for a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper and hitting the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead.
- Pacific's momentum continued, as Comeau went down the line and dumped a pass in front of the net to find van Wyk for the dive shot to hit the back of the net to increase the lead, 3-0.
- Pacific set the tempo and played with a very high intensity.
- The last shot of the half came in the 15th minute, as van Wyk capitalized on a penalty stroke to give Pacific a 4-0 lead for the rest of the first half and the game.
By the Numbers:
- Van Wyk notched a hat trick, scoring three goals in 11 minutes.
- Marlise van Tonder grabbed her fourth shutout of the season.
- The Tigers outshot the Aggies, 13-0, in the first half and 19-2 for the game.
