STOCKTON, Calif. - An eight-game road trip is on deck for the Pacific field hockey team as they head to No. 2 Connecticut on Friday followed by UMass Lowell on Sunday and Sacred Heart on Monday.
The Tigers are coming off a tough 5-3 loss to Harvard putting their record at 1-2 to start the season. During the match, Taylor Dempsey scored her first goal of the season while Kriekie van Wyk netted her first two goals of the year in the second half.
Leading the team with shots thus far is van Wyk with 15 and Savannah Burns not far behind with 12. Goal leaders for the season consist of juniors, van Wyk and Comeau as they have each scored a pair during their three-game home stand.
Connecticut has moved up to No. 2 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll this week after defeating Michigan on Sunday to move to 3-0 on the year.
The Tigers and Huskies will meet for only the third time in program history with a game time of 3 p.m. PDT.
Pacific visits Lowell, Mass. on Sunday at 9 a.m. PDT to do battle with the River Hawks who were picked to finish fourth in the East Division of the America East Conference. UMass Lowell is coming off an overtime win against Ball State to secure a 3-1 record to start their 2017 campaign.
Last season, the River Hawks finished 8-11 overall with a 3-5 conference record and were knocked out by Stanford in the first round of the America East tournament.
To wrap up the weekend, Pacific heads to New Haven, Conn. as they square off against Sacred Heart on Monday morning at 8 a.m. PDT. The Pioneers are 2-2 on the season after a 1-15 finish for the 2016-2017 season.
