MPSFs End With More Records Falling

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers broke even more records in the final day of the MPSF Championships as Curtis Klein swam a 1:44.57 in the 200 Back to break the previous record set in 2007 by Wojciech Betlej.  Pacific ended the MPSFs in fourth on the men's side with 593 points and fifth on the women's with 463.5.  Both those point totals were school records.

Yahav Shahaf also set a school record, breaking the record he set last year in the 200 Breast when he swam a 1:58.26, winning the conference crown in that event.

Whitney Jorgensen recorded another B-cut time, this time in the 200 Breast.  Jorgensen swam a 2:14.51 in that event, just .09 seconds behind third place.

Taylor Hosmer added another second place finish to her strong MPSF showing.  Hosmer swam a 2:01.64 in the 200 Fly to pick up another top-three finish for Pacific.

The women's relay team of Becca Aguilar, Kenna Ramey, Vaiva Gimbutyte, and Meredith Lillie also finished in second in the 400 Free Relay.  That team swam a 3:21.50.

The men one-upped that women's team as Mitchell Ongstad, Lane Goedhart, Miles MacKenzie, and Klein won the 400 Free Relay to end the MPSFs.  Pacific swam a 2:55.98 half a second ahead of BYU's team.

In the 100 Free, Pacific's men picked up two B-cuts thanks to Ongstad and MacKenzie.  Ongstad took second in the event with his 43.88 time, while MacKenzie swam a 44.08 to take third.

The NCAA Championships will begin on March 15 with the women's competition.  The men's NCAAs begin March 22.
