Jorgensen Named MPSF Swimmer Of The Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - For the second time in the last three weeks, the Pacific Tigers came away with an MPSF/Turbo Athlete of the Week award. Whitney Jorgensen took home the award this week after helping the Tigers break ten records in three days at the UNLV Invitational.  Jorgensen broke two records on her own, with Makoa Haneberg, Vaiva Gimbutyte, Mitchell Ongstad, and the men's relay teams also breaking school records.

This is the first MPSF Swimmer of the Week award for Jorgensen and third of the season for Pacific.  Kenna Ramey and Ongstad won the awards two weeks ago for their showings at Fresno State.

Jorgensen broke two school records last weekend, setting new marks in the 200 Breast and 200 IM.  In the 200 IM, Jorgensen swam a 2:00.36, besting her own previous school record that was set last year.  Her 200 Breast time of 2:14.81 bested the 2001 record set by Heidi Schmidt by half a second.

Jorgensen also holds Pacific's top time this year in the 400 IM at 4:16.26 and is second in the 200 Back (2:06.33) and 200 Fly (2:06.67).  Her 400 IM time was also set at this last weekend had won the event.  The senior was a part of Pacific's third-place 800 Free Relay team too, which swam a 7:30.65.
