Gullikson Paces Tigers With Five Goals in 10-9 Upset Over No. 3 Stanford

Stanford, Calif. – After being tied 3-3 with No. 3 Stanford at the end of the first quarter, Pacific's men's water polo team scored seven goals in the final frames to upset the Cardinal 10-9. With the win the Tigers improved to 15-9 (3-4 MPSF) on the season while the Cardinal fell to 13-6 (5-2 MPSF) on the year.

This is Pacific's first victory over Stanford since the 2006 season, when the Tigers defeated the Cardinal, 11-10, in overtime at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

The Tigers were led by senior Joey Gullikson (Sonoma, Calif.) who scored five goals for the Tigers. Other scorers for the Tigers included freshman Balazs Erdelyi (Eger, Hungary), senior Austin Delong (Houston, Texas), junior Tyler Reardon (Oak Park, Calif.) and sophomore Goran Tomasevic (Split, Croatia). Freshman Alex Malkis (Yoqneam, Israel) had seven saves in the cage for Pacific.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday, November 20 in Long Beach, Calif., when they take on the 49ers at noon.
