No. 10 Pacific 6-0 on the Season, Downs Redlands 12-8

Redlands, Calif. - In the opening round of the Inland Empire Classic, No. 10 Pacific defeated Redlands 12-8. With the win the Tigers improve to 6-0 on the season and Redlands falls to 2-4 on the year. Pacific continues action Saturday, Sept. 12 against Chapman at 1:15 p.m.

In the first quarter, Redlands took an early 1-0 lead at the 6:46 point. The Pacific offense was held scoreless most of the quarter, but senior Grant Hollis (Redlands, Calif.) put the Tigers on the board with his first goal of the day with 3:48 left to play. The Tigers quickly struck again 21 seconds later on a goal by sophomore Tom Koning (Poway, Calif.). to give Pacific the 2-1 lead.

At the start of the second quarter, Redlands struck again scoring at the 7:02 mark, to tie the game at 2-2. Freshman Goran Tomasevic (Split, Croatia) and sophomore Lance Morrison (Fairfield, Calif.) scored 30 seconds apart at the 5:29 and 4:49 marks to put the Tigers up 4-2. Junior Joey Gulllikson (Sonoma, Calif.) scored his first collegiate goal on a penalty shot with 3:35 remaining to give Pacific the 5-2 advantage. Redlands closed out the quarter tallying a score with 1:30 remaining.

Entering the second half, Pacific led Redlands 5-4 but Redlands notched a goal at 7:33 to tie the match for the second time. Sophomore Morrison put the Tigers up 7-5 in the third quarter, scoring his second and third goals of the game at the 4:25 and 1:03 marks.

Pacific scored the first goal of the fourth quarter on a shot by sophomore Koning with 7:36 left in the game. Freshman Tomasevic tallied his second goal of the game to put Pacific up 9-5 on the 6:17 mark. The Tigers concluded the match scoring three additional goals from sophomore Morrison, junior Gullikson and senior Joey Rossi (Ceres, Calif.) at the 4:08, 3:32 and 1:55 points respectively.

Lance Morrison (Fairfield, Calif.) finished the game tallying four goals on five attempts, while sophomore Joey Frantz (Chicago, Ill.) had eight saves in the cage for Pacific.
