Stockton, Calif. - The Tigers took to the pool for a midday contest against the visiting Anteaters of UC Irvine. The Anteaters came back in the fourth to defeat the Tigers 6-4. With the loss Pacific Falls to 12-11 (0-4 MPSF) on the year, UC Irvine improves to 14-7 (2-2 MPSF) on the season.
In the first frame, it was an offensive struggle for both the Tigers and the Anteaters, as the contest was tied 0-0 until the 2:35 mark when freshman Goran Tomasevic (Split, Croatia) notched the first goal of the game to put pacific up 1-0. With 0:26 remaining in the first frame, sophomore Lance Morrison (Fairfield, Calif.) notched Pacific's second goal of the day. UC Irvine closed out the quarter, tallying a goal with 0:20 on the clock to make it a 2-1 contest. Senior David Andrus (Houston, Texas) recorded four saves Pacific In the first frame.
Senior Joey Rossi (Ceres, Calif.) won the sprint for Pacific to start the second quarter. Sophomore Tom Koning (Poway, Calif.) tallied his first goal of the day with 2:01 remaining in the half. Pacific held UC Irvine scoreless in the quarter to end the half leading 3-1.
In the third quarter The Tiger offense was shutout, while Pacific's defense limited UC Irvine to one goal. Ending the third quarter Pacific maintained the one point advantage.
To begin the fourth quarter, Trent Baxter of UCI tied the game at three goals a piece with 6:21 remaining in regulation. The Anteaters went on to score two additional goals for the two point advantage before Koning responded with Pacific's final goal at the 2:10 mark to make it a 5-4 contest. The anteaters went on to notch their sixth goal with 0:46 left in regulation. The Tigers were unable to find the back of the cage to overcome the Anteaters fourth quarter comeback.
Pacific travels to southern California Nov. 7-8 to take on Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara. The Tigers travel to Malibu Saturday, Nov. 7 to take on Pepperdine at 11 a.m. On Sunday, Nov. 8, the Tigers travel to Santa Barbara for a 12 p.m. game.
