No. 15 Tigers Fall to No. 2 Cal in MPSF Opener

Berkeley, Calif. - The Pacific men's water polo team opened their MPSF schedule with a 17-7 loss to Cal in Berkeley, Calif. on Sept. 27. With the loss the Tigers dropped to 3-8 on the year and 0-1 in MPSF play. The Bears are now 10-1 on the year.

In the contest, the Tigers battled back and forth and were within one goal of the No. 2 Bears halfway through the third period. Later in the period however, Cal eventually went on to score nine unanswered points to pull away later in the game to secure their victory.

Senior Dragan Bakic (Split, Croatia), who leads the team in scoring, also led the Tigers in goals scored during the game with three. Other scorers for the team were Mike Struempf (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), who had two goals, and Duje Kaurloto (Split, Croatia) and Andy Skora (San Clemente, Calif.), who each scored once a piece. Goalkeeper David Andrus (Houston, Texas) recorded 12 saves in the loss.

The Tigers will next be in action on Sept. 29, when they will compete in the East Meets West Meet in Colorado Springs. The event will last all day Saturday and Sunday.
