No. 13 Tigers Fall Short Against No. 5 Pepperdine, 12-9

Malibu, Calif. - The Pacific men's water polo team fell short of upsetting No. 5 Pepperdine, falling to the Waves by a score of 12-9 on Oct. 20 in Malibu, Calif. With the loss the Tigers fell to 13-13 on the season and 0-3 in MPSF play, while the Waves advanced to 21-4 on the year and 1-1 in MPSF action with their victory.

The contest was close for a majority of the game as both teams battled back and forth to come to an 8-8 tie heading into the final period. The teams also found themselves tied after the first period and at the half the Tigers actually owned a one goal advantage. In the fourth quarter however, the Waves outscored the Tigers 4-1 to hand the Pacific their second loss of the three game road trip.

Senior Dragan Bakic (Split, Croatia) led the Tigers with three goals in the game to bring his season total to 81, while Mike Struempf (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) scored two goals in the loss and Jonathan Pare (Westlake, Calif.), Duje Kaurloto (Split, Croatia), Will Milcovich (Walnut Creek, Calif.), and Kenny Yamamoto (San Juan Capistrano) each scored once.

The Pacific men's water polo team will next be in action on Oct. 21, as they will take on UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif. The game will start at 1:00 p.m. and will be the Tigers final road game of the season before the MPSF Tournament. Pacific will finish their regular season schedule with for home MPSF games.
