Los Angeles, Calif. - The Pacific men's water polo team split a pair of games in day two of the So Cal Water Polo Tournament on Oct. 14, finishing the weekend with a record of 2-2 and improving their record to 13-12 on the season. After the Tigers fell to No. 7 UC Santa Barbara by three goals in their first game on Sunday, they bounced back against No. 13 UC San Diego defeating the Tritons by a score of 16-11 in the nightcap finishing the tournament in eleventh place overall.
In the Tigers' loss to UC Santa Barbara, Pacific goals were scored by Duje Kaurloto (Split, Croatia), Dragan Bakic (Split, Croatia), Kenny Yamamoto (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), and Joey Rossi (Ceres, Calif.). Seniors Kaurloto, Bakic, and Yamamoto each scored two goals in the game, while Rossi scored once. In goal, Brian Domecus (Vallejo, Calif.) had eight saves and David Andrus (Houston, Texas) added four more. The game's final score was 7-13 in favor of the Gauchos.
In game two, Bakic led the Tigers by scoring four goals in each half, while Kaurloto scored a total of four goals and Yamamoto scored twice. Andy Skora (San Clemente, Calif.) and Will Milcovich (Walnut Creek, Calif.) each added one goal in the game, while Domecus provided the Tigers with 14 saves in goal. The Tigers outscored the Tritons in every period, defeating UC San Diego by a score of 16-11.
The Pacific men's water polo team will next be in action on Oct. 19, when they will again take on UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif. The game will start at 4:00 p.m.
