Los Angeles, Calif. - The No. 14 Pacific men's water polo team suffered their first loss in five games, falling to No. 4 UCLA by a score of 15-10 in their opening game of the So Cal Water Polo Tournament. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 11-10 on the year, while the Bruins improved to a near perfect 13-2.
Junior Will Milcovich (Walnut Creek, Calif.) led all scorers in the contest tallying four goals for the Tigers, while ten different Bruins netted goals in the game for UCLA. Although the Tigers battled back late in the game outscoring the Bruins over the course of the last three periods, UCLA's early seven goal lead proved to be too much to overcome.
Other Pacific scorers included Dragan Bakic (Split, Croatia), Kenny Yamamoto (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), Shane Mahoney (Lodi, Calif.), Joey Rossi (Cares, Calif.), Lorin Bartlett (Porterville, Calif.), and Duje Kaurloto (Split, Croatia). Each of the six scored once for the Tigers in the loss.
Pacific's opponent for the next game of the So Cal Water Polo Tournament will be Bucknell. The contest will be played at Del Mar High School in Irvine, Calif. The game will start 4:00 p.m.
