STOCKTON, Calif. -- The No. 14 Pacific men's water polo team ran their record to 4-2 on the season with an 11-7 non-conference victory over
No. 11 UC Davis (3-3) on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
Three Tigers notched three goals apiece, as Pacific exploaded for six
goals in the final period of play to erase a two goal deficit. UC
Davis saw a 3-2 lead after a period of play evaporate as Clint
McLaughlin (El Cajon, Calif.) coverted on two penalty shots, which
tied the score at four at the half. The Aggies scored two goals in
the third period to the Tigers' one, then added the first goal of the
fourth period to take a 7-5 lead, before the six straight goals that
gave Pacific the victory
C. McLaughlin, Matt Turnbull (Act, Austrailia) and Kenny Yamamoto
(San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) each recorded three goals, with Turnbull
also adding four steals, an assist and a kick-out drawn. Goalkeeper
Marko Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) recorded six saves, three steals, and
two assists.
Kevin Bacharach (Alamo, Calif.) and Patrick Jacobson (Santa Cruz,
Calif.) paced UC Davis with two goals apiece.
Pacific is next in action next weekend, as they head to the SoCal
Tournament Sept. 17-18 in Irvine, Calif.
