Bill Simoni Field

Bill Simoni Field has been distinguished as one of the elite intercollegiate softball facilities on the West Coast. Completed in 1993, the facility has 350 stadium seats as well as ample grass area to watch the Pacific softball team in action. The dimensions of Bill Simoni Field are 190 feet down each line, 205 feet to the alleys and 220 feet to center field.

The field is named after long-time supporter Bill Simoni, who played fast-pitch softball for 32 years from his teens until 1973. He played on various Stockton area teams, including the Stockton Merchants, who he pitched to a second-place finish at the 1960 World Tournament in Long Island, N.Y. He pitched seven games in five days at the tournament, earning MVP and All-World First Team honors. In 22 regional playoffs in his career, Simoni was named MVP 11 times. He also pitched 12 perfect games and 45 no-hitters in his career. His fastball was clocked at 104 miles per hour in 1961.

The program's rise to the top of the collegiate ranks has been boosted by the development of Bill Simoni Field.

Construction of the facility initially was planned in three stages. The stages included the playing surface, press box and landscaping, the installation of lights and the creation of dugouts. Lights and a new scoreboard were installed in 2011 to complete stage two.

The third and final stage of the complex was completed during the summer of 2013 as brand new dugouts were erected at the field. With the dugouts, the Tigers have an enclosed home at Bill Simoni Field for the first time since its creation.
