Raney Sand Volleyball Courts

Built in 2013, the Raney Volleyball Courts is one of the premier beach volleyball complexes on the West Coast. The facility features three playing courts with seating surrounding the courts on the north, west, and east sides of the facility.The Raney Courts were named in honor of Winifred Olson Raney who served on Pacific's Board of Regents for 33 years from 1959 to 1991. In the mid-1970s, Mrs. Raney donated funds for the construction of the "Raney Recreation Area" on the Pacific campus, a facility consisting of a lighted outdoor basketball court and two sand volleyball courts. After the recreation facility was moved to give way for more classroom space, the university used some of Mrs. Raney's accumulated donations to help pay for the new sand volleyball complex that is now named in her honor.

In addition to the facility, the Tigers named each court in honor of generous donors and alumni. Court one is named the Jennifer Joines & Chris Tamas Championship Court, in honor of two of the greatest volleyball players in Pacific history. Court two is named the Jim & Gretchen Mair Family Court in honor of Jim and Gretchen Mair, both graduates of the Class of 1968, as they were the first donors to step forward with a donation toward the sand volleyball project. Court three is named the Art & Kaye Dugoni Family Court in recognition of the generosity of the Dugoni family and their 12 family members who have graduated from Pacific. Additionally, Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni, Class of 1948, worked for University of the Pacific for more than 60 years including 28 years as Dean of Pacific's School of Dentistry in San Francisco, which was renamed in his honor in 2004.

The Tigers premiered their sand courts on April 14, 2013, celebrating in style with dual wins over Santa Clara (3-2) and California (4-1).

The second phase of construction featured the installation of a scoreboard generously donated by LeRoy & Marjorie Minatre of Mina-Tree Signs, Inc.
