Amy Starr

Amy Starr joined the staff as an assistant coach in May of 2015 and is entering her ninth season at Pacific in 2023-24. She was promoted to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2018-19 season. Starr works primarily with Pacific's post players.

Before joining Pacific, Starr spent 10 years at Montana State with the Bobcats, including the final seven as associate head coach under Tricia Binford. During her time in this role, Starr served as Montana State's recruiting coordinator, defensive coordinator and as a position coach for post players. While with the Bobcats, Montana State played above-.500 basketball each year while producing 17 Big Sky All-Conference Performers, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, an All-American Honorable Mention, a Big Sky Freshman of the Year and a Big Sky Newcomer of the Year. During her tenure in Bozeman, she also guided 63 Big Sky All-Academic Honorees, including a two-time Academic All-American.

Prior to Montana State, Starr spent eight seasons at Cal Poly. While in San Luis Obispo, Starr was the lead assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and position coach for post players. Additionally, she managed the Cal Poly weight training program with an outside consultant while also monitoring the academic progress of the student-athletes.

Starr graduated from Washington State in 1997 with a degree in sociology. Starr played three seasons overall for the Cougars, including two redshirt years. Following an impressive career, she finished fifth all-time in program history with a .490 field goal percentage. Starr also holds the Cougars' single-game record for field goal percentage, draining 10 of 10 from the field against Stanford on January 8, 1994. Furthermore, she also currently holds a school record for rebounds in a game with 22 against Arizona State on Mar. 2, 1995, which is tied for the seventh-best mark in Pac-10/12 history.

A native of Pullman, Washington, she played both basketball and volleyball at Pullman High School. Starr is a member of the WBCA and is a graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy in 2004. She also has a son Caden, who was born in May of 2011.
