Great Learning Experience For Pacific Cross Country

Sept. 26, 2010

Stanford, Calif. - Sophomore Jazmin Quiroz (San Jose, Calif.) and freshman Melissa Hopper (San Jose, Calif.) participated in the Stanford Invitational 6k Cross Country race. Hopper finished with a time of 24:21, while Quiroz finished with a time of 25:37. Kathy Kroeger, a sophomore from Stanford, won the event with a time of 20:06.

Head Coach Josh Jones said "The girls were ready for a great race, but we just went out too fast. It was a good learning experience for Jazmin and Melissa. A high caliber race like this is easy to get caught up in the pack and not run your own race. We learn what we can and move on. The ladies are ready and I know they will perform when it counts."

The Stanford Invitational featured over 200 runners from California, Utah, and Arizona.

The Pacific Cross Country team will next be in action Saturday, October 9th, when they travel to San Diego to participate in the Triton Classic. The race begins at 9 a.m.
