Sacramento, Calif. - The Pacific Cross Country team traveled to the Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento for the West Regional Preview event, the Inter-Regional Jamboree. The event featured 19 squads from schools across the West Coast and served as a preview of the course that will be used for the NCAA West Regional competition at the end of the season.
Pacific was led by sophomore Lindsay Wourms (Camas, Wash.) who finished the 5K with a time of 18:36. Wourms was followed by Pacific sophomore Becky Grabow (Carson City, Nev.) who finished with a time of 19:01.
Coach Jones said of the performance in Sacramento: ""The Girls ran strong, we just didn't have it in us today as far as going after it. We will rebound for our next race."
The event, hosted by Sacramento State, represented the first appearance in five races for sophomore Mia Knipper (Morada, Calif.). Knipper finished with a time of 19:39 and Jones was pleased with Knipper's performance in the race.
"It was great to have Mia back after five weeks off of racing. She will be ready by the time conference comes around."
Jones also thought sophomore Grace McManus (Apple Valley, Calif.) had a strong race and a big improvement.
"Grace broke a big barrier today. She is looking great for this time of the season. I look forward to seeing what she runs later this month."
Pacific will next head to San Francisco for the San Francisco State Invitational next Friday, October 11th.
