Pacific Remains At No. 18 In Latest CWPA Top-20 Poll

Stockton, Calif. - In the latest poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), Pacific held steady at the No. 18 position. The Tigers are spending their second consecutive week as the No. 18 team in the nation after a 4-0 record at the Lancer Invite in Riverside, Calif. At the two day tournament Pacific outscored opponents 40-17 to improve to16-8 on the year.

On Friday, March 18, Pacific defeated Fresno Pacific (10-3) and Marist (12-5). Senior Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) led the Tigers with three goals against the Sun Birds, while senior Mandy King (Benicia, Calif.) found the back of the net five times in the win over the Red Foxes. Returning to action on Saturday, March 19, freshman Elise Martin (Calgary, AB, Canada) paced Pacific with three goals in the 7-3 win over Occidental. Pacific then closed out the tournament with an 11-5 win over Pomona-Pitzer, which was highlighted by a five goal performance from King. Senior Kailee Bucknum (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished the weekend with 12 saves in the cage while freshman Michele Relton (Beaconsfield, QC, Canada) registered 25 saves.

The Tigers have a break from competition this weekend and will return to the pool on Saturday, April 2, as they prepare to defend their Big West Regular Season Co-Champions title. Pacific will travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., in the first weekend of Big West action to take on the Gauchos.
