#10 Women's Water Polo Downs Team Canada

STOCKTON, Calif. - The No. 10 Pacific women's water polo team defeated Team Canada in an exhibition on Wednesday afternoon at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.

Kyra Christmas, herself a member of the Canadian Senior National Team, scored four goals for Pacific against her frequent teammates. Fellow Canadian Rachel Krieger added three goals for the Tigers.

Pacific also received three goals from Ellen Tiedemann, while Viktoria Szmodics and Karolina Hlavata also scored.

Elyse Lemay-Lavoie scored four times for Team Canada, while Rae Lekness added three goals. Brianna Utas, Shae Fournier, Verica Bakoc and Dominique Perreault also scored for Team Canada.

Neither team led by more than two goals in the contest with Christmas tallying three times in the fourth quarter. Three straight Tiger goals brought Pacific from down 10-9 to a 12-10 lead with 1:30 to go on Hlavata's tally. Fournier scored 15 seconds later, but the Tigers held on for the win.

Alexis Hollinrake recorded 11 saves for Pacific, while Clara Vulpisi made nine for Team Canada.

Pacific will head to the UCSB Winter Invite this weekend, opening Friday against No. 5 Hawai'i. The Tigers will also meet No. 3 UCLA, Pomona-Pitzer, and No. 11 UC San Diego.
