Two Tiger Women's Water Polo Athletes Competing Internationally
Two Pacific Women's Water Polo student-athletes have been chose to represent their countries in international competition. Sophomore Elise Martin (Calgary, AB, Canada) and senior Kim Kay (Cape Town, South Africa) are both competing this summer with their home country's teams.
Martin is representing Canada at the 26th World University Games from August 12 to August 20, 2011 in Shenzhen, China. She was third on the team in 2011 with 39 goals.
Kay is playing for South Africa at the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. The tourament runs through July 29. Kay had five goals and three steals for Pacific in 2011.
"I am proud of Elise and Kim for making their respective teams," said Tiger head coach Megan Thomson. "They have worked hard to put themselves in contention for these teams. The international experience will be valuable for them individually and for us as a team as we head into the next season."
