Lincoln, Neb. - Playing in one of her final high school matches before heading to campus to start her career as a Tiger, 2013 Freshman Lexi Elman showed off her skills for the Red Team at the Nebraska Coaches Association all-star volleyball match on Tuesday, July 23. The match featured the best of the best Nebraska had to offer with nine Division I signees taking the court for each side.
Playing on the Red Team with four other Division I commits, Elman was at her best as the high school All-American posted a team-best seven kills in the match to lead her side to victory. Elman and the Red Team cruised to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 victory before the Blue side won a previously scheduled fourth game 25-17.
As a senior, Elman was named a High School All-American by PrepVolleyball.com as she led the Marian Crusaders to a 38-5 overall record. Additionally, the Crusdaers posted a runner-up finish at the Nebraska State Championships as Elman earned state all-tournament honors along the way. For the year, Elman led all of Class A volleyball with 498 kills while also posting 372 digs, and 51 service aces.
Elman, along with her fellow freshmen and returning Tigers will begin pre-season camp on Saturday, Aug. 10 as they prepare for the 2013 season. Pacific kicks off its new year on Friday, Aug. 30 in Blacksburg, Va. with a match against St. Francis (Pa.) to begin the Virginia Tech Invitational. Tiger fans can get their first look at Elman and the Tigers on Sept. 13 when Pacific host former Big West rival UC Riverside in its home opener and first match of the Bankers Classic.
