For the final time in the 2011 regular season the Pacific women's volleyball team will head south on I-5 as it travels to UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge for Big West Conference play. The Tigers are looking to get back on track after a tough split of action last week in which Pacific dominated Cal Poly, 3-0, before falling in a heartbreaking five-setter to UC Santa Barbara. Pacific's loss to the Gauchos dropped the Tigers into a three-way tie for second place with UCSB and UC Davis with three weeks to play in the regular season as they enter the weekend at 6-5 in the conference.
Looking to get back on track the Tigers will go for the season sweeps of both the Highlanders and the Matadors this weekend after defeating both teams earlier in the year at home in the Alex G. Spanos Center. The Tigers dispatched the Highlanders with relative ease as Pacific posted its best hitting match of the year with a .368 hitting percentage. Leading the way was sophomore Megan Birch who posted 13 kills and just one error in the Tigers' dominating effort. Against Cal State Northridge, the Tigers struggled offensively but still put the Matadors away in four games as senior Samantha Misa powered Pacific to the win with 20 kills and 12 digs.
