THIS WEEK IN WVB - BIG WEST CONFERENCE PLAY

GAME NOTES - WEEK 10 - OCT. 28-29
After kicking off the second half of conference play with a bang by sweeping UC Irvine on the road last week, the Tigers enter the last week of October in prime position to make a run at the Big West title. Locked in a three-way tie for second place in the conference, a pivotal weekend is in place for Pacific as they host both Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara, the two teams who enter the week tied at the top with the Tigers. A sweep of the weekend's action will put Pacific in sole possession of second place in the conference and propel the team into the race for the conference championship for the stretch run.
However, the weekend will prove to be a difficult task for the Tigers as they face a pair of teams who have already notched wins over Pacific in 2011. On the road a month prior, Pacific suffered losses to both the Mustangs (3-0) and the Gauchos (3-1) which at the time dropped the Tigers to just 1-3 in conference action. Since that point, and with a lineup adjustment, the Tigers have gone streaking, winning four of their last five matches including grabbing three sweeps, with two coming on the road.
