Women's Tennis Falls To Saint Mary's

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team fell to Saint Mary's, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in a West Coast Conference match at Eve Zimmerman Tenis Center. Viktoriya Dzyuba & Anneroos Nederstigt won their doubles match, and a set each in singles before going unfinished.

Dzyuba & Nederstigt posted a 6-3 first doubles victory over Jana McCord & Jamie Pawid, but the Gaels answered with wins at third and second doubles. Parminder Kaur & Kareena Manji topped Maayan Sela & Katie Dyson, 6-3, at third as the point came down to second doubles. Clementine Clement & Emma Critser held off Sabrina Rodriguez & Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz, 6-3, to take the point.

In singles, Dzyuba won set one over McCord, who answered back to tie as their match went 6-2, 4-6, unfinished at first singles. Nederstigt rallied to take set one over Kareena Manji at sixth singles, but went 7-5, 1-4, unfinished.

At third singles, Clement put Saint Mary's up 2-0 with a win over Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz, 6-1, 6-2.
Critser swept Yuki Asami at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-0, before Aniek Van Rossum closed out Rodriguez 6-2, 6-2, at fourth singles.

At second singles, Sela was trying to rally back on Pawid when SMC clinched, 1-6, 4-5, unfinished.

Pacific falls to 6-10 on the year, 1-5 in WCC action. Saint Mary's improves to 7-9 overall, 4-2 in WCC play.

The Tigers will be back in action next Friday and Saturday at home. Pacific faces Portland on Friday at noon before squaring off with Gonzaga on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a pair of WCC matches at Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
