Women's Tennis Falls At LMU, 4-2

Los Angeles - The Pacific women's tennis team fell at Loyola Marymount, 4-2, Friday in West Coast Conference play. Viktoriya Dzyuba posted her eighth-straight singles win.

LMU took the doubles point as Anna Romeka & Tatijana Sheikhan posted a 6-3 win over Maayan Sela & Yuki Asami, 6-3 at third doubles. Katie Dyson & Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz were topped 6-4 by Andrea Crespo & Julia Norlin at second position. Dzyuba & Anneroos Nederstigt went unfinished with Jessica Perez & Elvira Juravliova, 6-5.

In singles, Dzyuba made quick work of Perez, 6-0, 6-1, at first singles, but Crespo posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dyson at third singles.

Sela answered back with a 6-1, 6-2 win for Pacific at second singles over Kristine Kouyoumjian, but Romeka topped Sabrina Rodriguez 6-0, 6-4 at fifth position.

After falling behind to Juravliova, 6-2 in set one, Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz came back with a 6-1 set two win, but Juravliova took the final three points for a 6-3 set three win to clinch the match.

Asami won set one, 6-3, over Sheikan and led set two 6-5 when the match went unfinished.

The Tigers fall to 6-8 overall, 1-3 in West Coast Conference play. Loyola Marymount improves to 6-8 overall, 1-1 in WCC action.

Pacific will face No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday at 11 a.m.
